The State of Diablo 3: Eternal Collection on PS4

As we approach another year in the world of Diablo 3: Eternal Collection, players are facing a harsh reality. Despite claims of a growing player base, the actual numbers paint a different picture. In fact, the current player count is slightly lower than it was this time last year after the Witchqueen update.

One of the most significant changes to the game's loot system is the expansion of the world loot pool. This means that instead of having a fresh batch of new weapons to farm each year, players will statistically be getting more of the same old weapons they already own. In previous years, the world loot pool only consisted of weapons released during that specific year, making it much easier for players to farm for new additions.

Furthermore, Bungie has announced plans to remove solo player nodes from Iron Banner, Trials of Osiris, and Competitive 3v3 starting next season. This decision is likely aimed at improving matchmaking times, which are already suffering due to the low player count.

Speaking of which, the game's constant crashes and online downtime have been a major issue for players this year. In fact, Bungie has had to take the game completely offline multiple times just this year alone. To make matters worse, the removal of world loot pools means that instead of getting new weapons each year, players will mostly get items from years past.

Other issues plaguing the game include a lack of new content. Players can expect only one new Vanguard strike and Crucible map each year, with no new Gambit maps in sight. Additionally, none of the activities will receive promised new armor sets each year.

The story of Destiny 2 has also taken a hit with the latest season's 'big cutscene' undoes everything revealed in Witchqueen. The Witness is no longer behind The Darkness, and Eramis is now just a better version of herself. The narrative is riddled with contradictions and plot holes, leaving fans frustrated.

It's clear that Destiny 2 has reached an all-time low point. Rather than making excuses for the game's shortcomings by claiming that critics don't play it, perhaps it's time to acknowledge the problems and work towards fixing them.
